There is plenty going on in the city besides the Worcester BID Motor Festival tomorrow and these are outlined below. Heart of Worcestershire College welcomes summer with Festival at the Fountains (South Quay) from 11am to 3pm. Staff and students from the College will be hosting a number of activities including mask painting, Indian head massage, painting challenges, interactive activities and much more. There will also be a showcase of music and performances from the College students. Visitors will also have the chance to chat with staff and students about various courses, life at the College and future pathways they can take.

 

Night at the Porcelain

Night at the PorcelainVisit the Museum of Royal Worcester for their inspiring Night at the Porcelain event. Experience some of the sights, sounds, smells & tastes of the Royal Worcester porcelain factory. Featuring new artworks, interactive activities for all ages & themed refreshments (small charge applies for refreshments).

Entry is free from 7pm to 10pm for this one night only event tomorrow.

 

Explore Worcester’s Pubs with the Mild Ale Trail

CAMRA LogoYou’ve got the opportunity to join CAMRA to try a many and varied selection of Mild Ales at 6 city centre pubs. Why not travel by public transport or take a walk to the event and follow the trail to explore our city centre pubs and sample some interesting ales at the following pubs:

  • The Cardinals Hat, Friar Street- City’s oldest pub with wood-panelled atmospheric interior, offering a selection of regional beers and cider.
  • The Cricketers, Angel Street – The old theatre bar, now serving a changing range of regional real ales and cider, with reminders of the County team all around.
  • Eagle Vaults, Friar Street – Old market tavern with magnificent tile work and beers from the Marston’s stable, promising a mild from afar for the day.
  • The Pheasant, New Street – Lively black-and-white pub serving an ever changing range of real ale (no half measures, just thirds and pints).
  • The Plough, Fish Street – Grade II listed building, serving local and regional real ales and local cider.
  • The Postal Order, Foregate Street – Large Wetherspoon pub, next to the station, that always serves a diverse selection of real ale and cider.

New Zealand at New Road
Worcestershire County Cricket Club  are currently taking on the New Zealand tourists in the visitor’s last match before the First Test against England at Lords. The match runs through until Sunday and what better place to watch cricket – especially with the improved views of the Cathedral in the background! Tickets are still available.

 

Exhibitions at the Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum:
An Englishman Abroad until 31st October

IMG_1149From pilgrimages made by the devout to the grand tours enjoyed by the upper classes, the men and women of Worcestershire have always wandered far from home. This exhibition examines the changing focus of these travellers and the countries that it has taken them to.

Stanhope Forbes’ England until 6th June

HSW_WMAG_FA06Explore an idyllic slice of English life through the eyes of the much-loved landscape painter, Stanhope Forbes. The exhibition investigates Forbes’ work, life and influences and includes some iconic coastal scenes as well as revealing depictions of England’s rural communities, green landscapes and new railways.

A big congratulations to one of the longest serving independent businesses in the city centre, Individual Tailoring on The Foregate who on Saturday celebrate their 50th anniversary. Finally a warm welcome to Subway which has opened its second city centre outlet and is next to the Vue Cinema on the corner of Friar Street and College Street. In addition Bolero Venues have just opened their latest venture in Foregate Street, next to Bolero Bar and is called No.35 The Provenance
