A part-time dedicated store detective has been involved in 425 incidents of retail stock loss and recovered at least £46,000 in stolen goods in the fifth year of the BID (2014/15). The detection rate for incidents relating to CityNet members was 92%, and just 32% for non-members thus proving the value of membership.
The detective is funded by the BID and is linked to the CityNet radio scheme. They roam around the city centre and liaise closely with the Police, CityNet staff and security staff from the retailers themselves.
